Participated in Several China-Africa Cooperation Projects, COSCO SHIPPING Helps to Enhance the Friendship between Peoples
Date:2024-09-07

In recent years, COSCO SHIPPING participated in many China-Africa cooperation projects.

On July 17, our vessel M.V. COSCO SHIPPING TIAN LU, loaded with wind power equipment, set out on its way to Egypt. This cargo will power the Amunet Wind Power Project, the largest single-capacity wind project on the African continent. Once this project is complete, it will generate approximately 2.7 billion kWh of clean energy annually, lighting up nearly one million homes in southeastern Cairo with stable and reliable electricity. As the logistics general contractor for this transformative project, COSCO SHIPPING is providing seamless door-to-door services to the clients.

This summer, COSCO SHIPPING has completed the shipment for the South Africa OYA Wind Power Project. With an impressive 86.4 MW capacity, it's now the world's largest hybrid wind-solar-storage power station. Get ready for stable, clean energy powering South Africa's grid, boosting local power stability, and driving innovative new energy solutions in the region. We are proud to be part of this sustainable future.

Since 2019, COSCO SHIPPING has teamed up with partners in West Africa to build a thriving barge transportation business. Through various projects, our logistics supply chain has rapidly grown across the region.

Growing together with local communities is at the heart of our efforts. Over the past five years, we have assisted in four maritime rescues, aiding 20 fishermen, created 160 jobs, and supported 22 fishing villages with more than 20 community initiatives.

Recently, we have been supporting ANTA’s assistance project to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, providing dedicated full-time online service. The first batch of aid has arrived at the receiving point of the United Nations Office in Burundi on schedule. We hope local young people put on these sportswear and enjoy themselves doing sports.

Since 2021, we have been delivering full-service logistics for the Kenya power transmission project. Once complete, it will help alleviate power shortages, improve living conditions, and boost economic growth.

To ensure smooth transport, we combined container, air freight, ro-ro and heavy-lifting shipping, ensuring every batch arrived safely and on time. Each delivery brings us one step closer to a brighter, more connected future for the region.
