Hainan Harbor & Shipping International Port and PSA Singapore Collaborate to Enhance Port Connectivity and Supply Chain Solutions
Date:2025-07-01

Hainan Harbor & Shipping International Port Co., Ltd. has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PSA Singapore under the joint presence of Hainan Province Governor Mr. LIU Xiaoming, Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING Mr. WAN Min, and PSA International Group CEO Mr. ONG Kim Pong.

The MOU states that both parties will explore opportunities to synergize and enhance trade connectivity as well as service excellence through joint operational initiatives such as launching more direct shipping routes between Port of Yangpu and Port of Singapore and enhancing operational efficiency of the shipping routes. This cooperation is expected to optimize cargo flow between Hainan (and broader China) and ASEAN countries.

As the operator of the Yangpu International Container Terminal (YPICT), Hainan Harbor & Shipping International Port is focusing on the development of logistics channel and striving to build Yangpu Port as a “two-way dual-hub international port” (i.e., the southern hub for China’s domestic north-south shipping routes and the eastern hub for the east-west shipping routes from Southeast Asia to North America). With the commissioning of the new berths as the first phase of its expansion project, the port’s handling capacity and service level have been further enhanced. To date, there are already seven stable shipping routes connecting Port of Yangpu and Port of Singapore.

The signing of the MOU marks a significant milestone for the Hainan Free Trade Port in deepening international shipping cooperation and enhancing its global supply chain competitiveness. The close collaboration with PSA Singapore will not only promote the internationalization of Port of Yangpu but also align with the broader trade development goals of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
